Inspiration

Well well well, here we are. In this first entry I just want to talk about my biggest inspirations, and what drove me to explore photography. Let’s take it way back to the beginning, years before I ever picked up a camera.

As a young kid, I was always busy with sports activities throughout the year – many of my favorite memories stem from sports and the personal connections made from them. Much-like many young kids, my bedroom walls were filled with posters and photos of what I was most interested in – that being football, baseball, basketball and cars. 

For all of you that are familiar with the Sports Illustrated Magazine, you know that they have had some really special covers over the years, featuring some of the most iconic and timeless photographs taken by professional sports photographers. To name a few iconic cover photos that have always caught my eye: Ali v Liston (photo by Neil Leifer), Jordan “The Shot” (photo by John Biever), Dwight Clark “The Catch” (photo by Walter Iooss Jr). 

On the surface, each of these photos feature athletes that are well known in their sport based off of their athletic abilities and accomplishments – rightfully so. But for me, the most interesting aspect of all of that is the fact these photographers managed to capture these moments that would completely immortalize these athletes into sports history books. 

With a mixture of skill, patience, positioning and of course a bit of luck – they created amazing photos that will be admired forever. These photos and moments are some of my biggest inspirations in photography. Although I am no professional photographer, when I am out shooting I am always thinking about the moments I am capturing and how powerful these moments can be. Photography is a beautiful art form, and I am happy to have found it. With all of that being said, welcome to my journey. Let’s grow together.
